Welcome to folklinks.com®
folklinks.com > connecting people through music®
Hard to believe, but the Web site celebrated its tenth anniversary
on March 12. In 1999-2000, I was teaching advertising and
public relations at Purdue University and the dot com boom was
at its peak. It seemed like a good time for a communications instructor
to practice what he preached in the classroom.
Despite the site's origins in the dot com era, publishing articles
on the Web about folk and acoustic music has never been a cash
crop. The site has been a labor of love . . . and fun. Envisioned
by the editor and made possible by the design and HTML skills
of Dan Beach, folklinks.com evolved into a forum for essays and
reports rather than a catalog of links and CD reviews as first
planned.
Acting Web master Lynda Postal’s work is on display
in the recent special reports. If you like what you see, please e-mail her at lynda@web-services.org
for further information. If you know HTML and would be willing to contribute occasional Web work to this not-for-profit site, the editor would love to hear from you. Please e-mail me by clicking on my name at the bottom of this message.
Speaking of special reports, Canadian writer Jeff Doran contributes
a lively, detailed account of the Old Songs Festival in Altamont,
New York, In search of Old Songs. We continue to urge songwriters
and those interested in songwriting to read Holly Tashian’s
informative three-part series on songwriting. Holly is a fine
Nashville writer and performer.
If you read something on folklinks.com that leads you to want
to share a similar experience or expertise of your own, we would
love to hear from you. Send an e-mail to the editor, and he will
respond.
Our mission continues to be to provide an informed Web presence
for folk and acoustic music performers, presenters, organizations,
radio shows, Webcasts, magazines, business services, and all friends
of folk and acoustic music.
We would not be able to do this without some special people.
Many thanks to charter sponsor Micah Solomon of Oasis
CD Manufacturing.
Additional thanks to Sing Out! and
C. F. Martin & Co., to
which we link through the Martin 000-18 (the editor owns a 1973
model)that has become our logo.
If you would like to be informed when we add new material, please
leave us your e-mail address in the box below. We promise
not to spam or share the list. Thank you for your continued support.
